
A 21-year-old drunk driver was arrested Thursday after a DUI crash that injured four people in Stockton.
DUI Crash: A 21-year-old driver was arrested Thursday night after a drunk and/or drugged driving accident seriously injured four people in Stockton.
• A 21-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and driving without a license when she slammed into another car from behind.
• Both cars went off the road. The driver of the other car and both of her passengers were hospitalized.
• The faulty driver was arrested after the DUI crash and booked into jail, with bail set at more than $1 million.
The DUI crash occurred at around 8 p.m. on Waterloo Road/Highway 88 just east of Highway 99, according to a report in the Stockton Record.
California Highway Patrol officials said 21-year-old Stockton resident Sonya Mijin Ordez was driving a 2004 Chevrolet eastbound on Waterloo Road when she came up too fast behind another car just west of Budiselich Road.
Ordez slammed into the 2001 Chevrolet, which was driven by 42-year-old Jennie Rillamas, also of Stockton. The impact forced Rillamas’s vehicle off the road and into a tree. Ordez’s vehicle also went off the road and ended up in a field, the CHP said.
Rillamas suffered moderate injuries in the DUI crash and was transported to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento to be treated. One of her passengers, 18-year-old Stockton resident Samantha Gayla suffered major injuries and was taken to San Joaquin General Hospital. Another passenger, under age 18, suffered minor injuries and was also was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, the CHP reported.
Ordez was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing injury and misdemeanor driving without a license. She was treated for minor injuries at San Joaquin General and then booked into San Joaquin County Jail, where her bail was set at more than $1 million.
